feat of stupidity

Niraj knows, and knows it very well that a person will not put his best foot forward always. Sometimes, and these times are not very rare occasion when one shows his worst foot. C0etzee, in his "Life and Times of Michael K", describes titular chararcter's fear of "feat of stupidity". Michael K is by no means, an intelligent person, but sometimes he's so intrigued or sometimes, shocked by something that he forgets to use whatever grey cells, he has got.
Niraj has also noticed a lot people behaving in this way, something that doesn't suit their intellectual capacity at all. In fact he has noticed himself in such situations. And, he couldn't do anything else than wince the moment the "feat of stupidity" gets over.

This one is about zeitgeist...
( means "The spirit of the time")
Many people take a pride in proclaiming that they are or were ahead of their times. Well, Niraj don't. Simply because, Niraj feels that he is actually behind his time by some 20-30 years.
Yeah, he would have liked to live through the late sixties and seventies as young man and there are several reasons for that. Fancy some of them.
  • Atheist are quite out of fashion and Niraj is one. At one point of time, people were expecting that all rational people would turn to atheism by the the end of millennium. But of course, they were overesimating the power of human rationality.
  • Everything is a bit too commercialised for Niraj's taste.
  • Religion is interfering too much in our lives.
  • Then there is concept of metro-sexuality. C'mon, how can someone like men with lipsticks and eye-liner.
  • Now-a-days if you don't belong to any dogma, you would find yourself quite alone. Confirmation is an obsession with the present generation. Even the mavericks of this age expound their their theory of being "maverick". How can somebody pay to learn the "art of living".
Then he discovered the song called "GOD" by one of the biggest maverick of all time John Lennon.
And, it goes like this:
God is a Concept by which we measure our pain
I'll say it again
God is a Concept by which we measure our pain
I don't believe in magic
I don't believe in I-ching
I don't believe in Bible
I don't believe in Tarot
I don't believe in Hitler
I don't believe in Jesus
I don't believe in Kennedy
I don't believe in Buddha
I don't believe in Mantra
I don't believe in Gita
I don't believe in Yoga
I don't believe in Kings
I don't believe in Elvis
I don't believe in Zimmerman
I don't believe in Beatles
I just believe in me...and that reality
The dream is over
What can I say?
the Dream is Over
Yesterday
I was the Dreamweaver
But now I'm reborn
I was the Walrus
But now I'm John
and so dear friends
you'll just have to carry on
The Dream is over
And Niraj fell in love with it. But alas, Lennon is no more and it is no more in fashion to believe in his lyrics. Thought listening to him (without believing in it, of course) is in fashion.
Sometimes, God (oops.., Niraj doesn't belive in him) is so lazy.
This one is about the name.......
(Who cares if somebody has said "what's in a name?")

Don't you think, Niraj has chosen a slightly unusual name for his blog. Especially if you belong to non-Hindi background (and if you care to think about such trivial stuff), it certainly will appear so.
Whatever. Here is the reason why Niraj chose this name. Niraj has developed a liking towards poetry during his last year in college( he would like to add that a movie called "Dead Poet's Society" is somehow responsible for it). Among the few poets he has read so far, Nida Fazli is his favourite. A few lines from his poem called "Mukammal Jahan"

kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahan nahin milta
kahin zameen to kahin aasman nahin milta
Quite literally, Nobody ever gets the perfect world as he desires, sometimes he doesn't get the desired land and othertimes, desired sky.
Niraj believes that everybody tries to create this perfect world for himself and eventually fails. But this almost-sure failure should not deter one from trying to create it. That's what Niraj would be doin' with this blog. An attempt to make his world a bit more "mukammal".
Amen!
[Most probably you have figured it out by now. Nobody thinks of so many things while naming his blog. At least, Niraj doesn't. But, he likes to come up with such deep explanation in hindsight and one of such explanation is in front of you. But he is serious about making your world more "mukammal"]
